New Ugandan movie “Veronica’s Wish” has received 12 nods at the upcoming Uganda Film Festival 2018.
The movie that was written and directed by Nisha Kalema and stars actors like Malaika Nyanzi, Simon Kalema, Moushema Housen, among others has been nominated in the category of Best Screenplay, Best Sound, Best Feature Film, among others.

This year’s edition of the Uganda Film Festival kicks off on November 26.
“Veronica’s Wish” is meanwhile set to be premiered this Saturday November 17, at a red-carpet event that will be hosted by media personality Andrew Kyamagero at Kampala Serena Hotel.

Recently, we informed you that the self-proclaimed Queen Of Love, Solome Basuuta was upto something.

We can now fully confirm that the musician under her label VINT EDGE, is excited to announce her upcoming love music experience dubbed “Love Nights.”

In a statement that reached our desks, we gathered that this event is slated for Thursday, 29th November 2018 at Skyz Hotel, Naguru (Skyz Deck).

“Love Nights will set the mood for the enjoyment of love music, whether with a group of close friends and family who wish to have a great night, or as a couple. In a nutshell, this is an event to celebrate love,” the statement read in part.

The vocalist and songwriter who came of age as a Solo-Artist in a sold-out concert in 2015 says she is ready to share with Kampala and Uganda her new music.

She has been working on a new project, Song Of Solome and during ‘Love Nights with Solome Basuuta’ people will get a taste of it.

She will also perform a good number of the songs you have come to know her for, as well as some surprises.

Solome Basuuta believes that Love Nights is an opportunity for everyone who enjoys love music to crown the work year with LOVE before the busy festive season sets in. On Thursday the 29th of November, all roads lead to Skyz Hotel Naguru at Skyz Deck for what is promising to be a great night to celebrate love.

Bobi Wine finally held his “Kyarenga Concert” on Saturday November 10 at his One Love Beach, Busabala, after so much huddles and battles between his events organizers, Uganda police and Namboole Stadium, his initial choice of venue.
The concert that has since been named “the concert of 2018” was overwhelmingly attended by thousands of people and Bobi Wine apparently did not fail to deliver, performance-wise.
The self proclaimed Ghetto President has taken to social media to thank all those that turned up for the concert and made it a success.

“What a day, What a Night, What a Show! THANK YOU to the thousands of friends, supporters and fans who came down to One Love Beach Busabala last night for the #KyarengaConcert. Comedian, Anne Kansiime recently announced that she would be performing in Namibia again, leaving her fans in the Southern part of Africa excited and anticipating a good laugh from the popular comedian. She first visited the country in 2015 and left the crowd yearning for more, as she won them over with her unique take on everyday situations in the most hilarious way.

Hosted by the Eba Pendukeni foundation, she returned to Namibia over the weekend to crack some ribs in Ongwediva, at the multipurpose center, located on the Northern side of Namibia, Oshana region. She put on a very successful show as she performed to a fully packed hall, leaving revelers asking for more.

Kansiime is no stranger to selling out shows especially on the African continent. She has previously held massive shows in Rwanda, South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe among others ,including several cities in the United States of America.

Her social media posts are evidence she had a successful show, as she thanks the crowd in Namibia for being such a great audience.

The Kyabazinga of Busoga William Gabula Nadiope IV has launched Water Harvesting Systems at Nakanyonyi Primary School. The water harvest systems are part of those that will be installed in 110 schools in Busoga. Ten schools will be selected from each Chiefdom to benefit from the program.

Funds used to construction the Water Harvest Systems are part of those that were fundraised before the Kyabazinga Royal Dinner event, with an objective to improve access to clean and safe water for children in primary schools and vulnerable communities in Busoga. Present at the launch were the Katuukiro (Prime Minister) of Busoga Dr. Joseph Muvawala, Royal Chiefs, Ministers from Obwakyabazinga Bwa Busoga and Nakanyonyi Primary School Pupils.

Muvawala thanked various sponsors particularly DFCU that donated sh20m to Busoga Kingdom for provision of clean and safe drinking water in Nakayonyi.

Amidst the controversy going on between Rema Namakula and Eddy Kenzo’s relationship woes, different concerned parties have come out to share their opinions on the much publicized situation.

There has been a lot of buzz going on concerning this relationship ever since Rema released her single,”Sili muyembe’’ which left lots of tongues wagging on who it was directed to. with many saying it was meant to school Kenzo to cherish his baby mama and marry her, which talk Kenzo swept under the rag while appearing on NTV show, ”Mwasuze Mutya” where he said he will show the public the person he wants to marry when he is ready.

Now, actor and comedian, Ashraf Semwogerere has also chipped in, and penned a lengthy letter to the mother of one ,advising her to get over the fact that Kenzo hasn’t married her yet and just concentrate on her career .  

“Don’t force Kenzo to marry you. He will do it to please you and divorce to leave you in tears. From what I see, read and hear Kenzo loves you so much. But there must be some pressure from his manager not to marry.” Part of the letter goes

Mbarara: The third and last leg of the regional MTN Marathon 2018 was this morning launched in Mbarara at a press conference held at the Lake View Hotel. After successful showings in Mbale (Eastern Uganda) and Gulu (Northern Uganda), the Western Region is expected to show up in large numbers, this is according to Valery Okecho, Manager Corporate Communications at MTN Uganda:

“Within one day, we had 478 participants registered to take part in the Mbarara Run; we look forward to even more registering. MTN Uganda is excited about the regional runs because we are supporting the efforts of the Uganda Athletics Federation in developing local talent in readiness for international success on the race tracks” said Valery Okecho.

He also reiterated that the proceeds of the run will go towards maternal health support in Mbarara, just like the case for Gulu and Mbale runs. OC Tibesigwa Swizin and ASP Namanya Doreen, representing Uganda Police, pledged their support on behalf of the force in a joint statement:

“We shall deploy our units in more than 15 key points around the route to provide event security and ensure safety of the runners. Uganda Police has given the organisers a go ahead to host the Mbarara Run and we shall be there to ensure maintenance of law and order – before, during and after the event”

Just like in the Mbale and Gulu runs, the Police Athletics Club will also take part in the Mbarara Run as the force continues its pursuit of medals and improved finishing timings. Speaking on behalf of the Uganda Athletics Federation, Daniel Tamwesigire, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the Mbarara Run stated that all arrangements had been finalised to ensure a successful run:

“We have prepared in advance for the run and allocated a team of twenty (20) Marshalls who will work with a large number of volunteers to ensure the event runs smoothly. We thank MTN Uganda Foundation for actively supporting athletics development over the last fourteen years; in fact they were among the first sponsors of athletics in Uganda!” said Daniel Tamwesigire.

Present at the press conference were MTN Marathon partners and sponsors Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (Ssendi Umar Kabanda, Regional Sales Manager Rwenzori Water), Stanbic Bank (Twesigye Adrine Bright, Mbarara Branch Manager), Huawei Uganda (Allan Kyobe, Public Relations Manager), Vision Group and SPEDAG.

Musician Khalifa Aganaga has followed in the footsteps of various Ugandan artists and opened up his own music studio, ”Bad character Records” weeks after fellow artiste, Ykee Benda  opened up his own “Mpaka Records.”

The “Oyitangaayo” singer hopes to sign as many artists as possible to his new record label, including artists like Apass who he says is a struggling artist that will also benefit from his new project.

“Am tired of hearing A Pass singing demo’s and now I’ve opened up my own studio Bad Character records to help them, I will promote them and invest alot of money in them”,  He ridiculed Apass

Details on the whereabouts of the studio are not yet known, but we shall let you know as soon as we find out.

Victor Kamenyo has opened up about the reports, confirming the split.

According to the rapper, he decided to part ways with the singer because she had become arrogant, could not take advice anymore and was making bizarre requests. Becky was apparently demanding for a mansion. Her reason? The house the management was renting for her was not befitting of her celebrity status.
It remains unclear who will manage the singer now.

American rapper Kanye West has once again postponed the release of his highly anticipated new album “Yandhi”.
The album that was scheduled to be dropped on November 23 has been pushed to an unspecified date.
The “No More Parties In LA” rapper announced the news on Twitter over the weekend, citing he does not feel ready.

Last month Kanye West visited Uganda and lodged up at Chobe Safari Lodge in Murchison Falls National Park, to finish the album that will be his ninth studio effort. During his stay, he enlisted Swangz Avenue to help him with production work and also set up a temporary studio.

Having been a guest DJ in now 34 countries including Ethiopia where he played last weekend, DJ Erycom, affectionately known, as The Local DJ is Uganda’s best musical export by far, having dominated the East African market for now a decade and still going international. DJ Erycom continues to draw big crowds whenever he performs in and outside Uganda.

It was one of those rare occasions when he performed at PTC Club & Lounge in Makindye on Saturday night where music lovers were thrown into boisterous festivities the moment he took to the DJ’s box.

t looked like only a handful would turn up for the event as only a few people had arrived after 9 pm but after midnight cars flooded into the two main parking areas sending a signal to others not to miss.

When the veteran DJ came out of the guest lounge into the DJ’s Booth, fans could not stop screaming – Erwiiiiicom, Helikomuuuu, Ekomu while others were heard pronouncing his name as Erikon. It was clear they did not care much about what he would offer, but were just excited to see their favourite DJ spin the discs and twist back and forth the mixing table’s sound control buttons.

The self tagged Local DJ did not disappoint as he concocted a good mixture of Uganda’s old hits and latest songs to lighten up the night.

Ugandan boy group B2C have dropped their latest music video.
Titled “Byakyuuka”, the video was shot and directed by reknown video director Darlington and finds the singing trio that is comprised of Bobby Lash, Delivad Julio and Mr Lee singing about love and how they have morphed from being the bad guys to good guys.

The video was released just an hour after B2C confirmed in a statement that they have parted ways with their longtime manager Andy Events due to conflicting commitments but remain friendly with him.
